Tickets on sale for Brooklin’s Victorian Tea

BROOKLIN — Group 74 invites women of all ages to dust off their best hats and join friends for an elegant afternoon of light refreshments at their 17th Annual Victorian Tea on Saturday, May 13 at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home.

The event has become a traditional way for women of all generations to dress-up in their favourite spring outfits and spend the afternoon relaxing in good company. Group 74’s website has some feedback from guests at last year’s event.

“My daughter and I look forward to coming to the Mother’s Day Victorian Tea each year,” wrote Anne T. “The tea has become a tradition for us, an opportunity to dress up pretty, don our fanciest headwear and enjoy the wonderful tea, goodies and meet new friends.”

Karen M. wrote, “My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our first Victorian Tea — will put it on our ’to do’ list for next year and perhaps get a group together.”

Group 74 is a nonprofit women’s organization founded in Brooklin in 1974 to promote community spirit and goodwill, as well as donating to local charities.

This year’s Victorian Tea includes a hat parade, Victorian crafts, and a children’s prize table. There will also be a bake sale with sweets to take home for Mother’s Day and special appearances of the Garden Fairy and a princess.

Tickets are $16.87 for adults and $11.57 for children under 12, this includes an online registration fee. A portion of the proceeds going to Wings Maternity Home in Ajax. Guests are asked to bring their favourite cup and saucer.

The Victorian Tea will be held on Saturday, May 13 from 1:30 to  3:30 p.m. at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby.
